The Climate Entrepreneurship Programme (CEP)

About the Programme

The Climate Entrepreneurship Programme (CEP) is designed to train participants in creating and advancing climate-focused startups. The programme helps turn a business idea into a comprehensive business case by teaching essential skills such as market research, financial planning, and assessing the environmental impact of products.

Participants will work in teams to create a startup presentation and prepare a 6-minute video pitch, outlining their product and its value proposition for a target audience.

Who Can Participate?

The programme is open to individuals from migrant backgrounds, including those with international protection status or applicants for such status, living in the Drogheda area. Fluent English is not a requirement, as the programme provides tools and methods to facilitate learning for those with limited language proficiency.

Facilitator

The programme will be facilitated by Dr. Deirdre McQuillan from Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin). Dr. McQuillan is an experienced lecturer and researcher in entrepreneurship and small business development.

What Will be the Outcome of this course?

By the end of the programme, participants will:

            •           Learn the fundamentals of building a successful business;

            •           Develop business cases for climate-friendly startups;

            •           Gain professional pitching and presentation skills;

            •           Receive a certificate of completion.


When and Where?

The training starts in March 2025 and involves 12 hours taught time

Self-directed work: Approximately 38 hours over three months.

In-person sessions will take place at The Mill, Enerprise Hub, Newtown Link Road,Greenhills, Drogheda, Co. Louth. A92 CD3D. Online sessions can be accessed from any convenient location.

Materials and Equipment

Participants will receive workbooks, templates, and tools. A computer or device capable of preparing presentations and recording video pitches will be required.

What is the Cost of the Course and How to Register?

The programme is free of charge, but spaces are limited (20 participants per general and women-only streams). Interested participants must complete a Training Registration Form.
